On Friday, Governor Cuomo released the details of a series of public hearings on New York State’s Olmstead Implementation Plan.
There are three public forums:
- Tomorrow (8-21);
- Wednesday (8-22); and,
- (In September) Friday (9-28).
According to the material distributed by the Governor’s Office : ”If you would like to speak at one of these events, please contact Yeshica Jeffers at 518-486-3859/518-473-1190 or email yeshica.jeffers@opwdd.ny.gov to register. Speaker will be given three minutes to present his/her testimony. Please bring a written copy of your testimony to the session. If speaking opportunities are no longer available, you can mail your testimony to Raymond Pierce, OPWDD Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement, 44 Holland Ave., 4th Floor, Albany NY 12229 or raymond.l.pierce@opwdd.ny.gov. All testimony will be given the same consideration.”
States provide Olmstead Plans to show compliance with the 1999 US Supreme Court Olmstead Decision which requires services to individuals with disabilities in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
